Refugees and asylum seekers continue to face significant challenges, often living in precarious conditions marked by insecurity and the ongoing threat of violence. Many individuals are particularly vulnerable due to issues such as gender-based violence (GBV), child protection concerns, and various urgent protection risks.

Under the UNHCR Protection Project, KAALO has successfully implemented Individual Protection Cash Assistance to address these urgent needs.

This initiative has provided critical support to 156 refugees and asylum seekers, ensuring they can meet essential costs related to medical care, food, and safety.

The selection of beneficiaries is guided by a clear set of criteria, prioritizing individuals experiencing the highest levels of vulnerability. This includes victims of gender-based violence, unaccompanied minors, and individuals with disabilities. Additionally, those with the most immediate needs, such as a lack of access to basic necessities or medical care, are given priority.

By identifying those at risk through home visits and community outreach, KAALO was able to deliver timely assistance aimed at alleviating immediate hardships.

The cash grants serve not only as a short-term relief measure but also empower recipients to navigate their challenges and rebuild their lives with dignity.
