KAALO, in collaboration with the Puntland Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, has successfully concluded a five-day training for 10 representatives of farmer cooperatives from Garowe and Iskushuban Districts.
The training aimed to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of farmer cooperative members, enabling them to improve agricultural productivity, enhance irrigation management, and strengthen collaboration between farming communities and institutions supporting agricultural development.
Throughout the five-day training, participants had the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of key aspects of cooperative development and agricultural practices. The training focused on equipping farmer representatives with practical knowledge that can be applied within their respective cooperatives and farming communities.
Building the capacity of farmer organizations is an important step towards increasing agricultural production, improving food security, and fostering sustainable rural development. Strong and well-organized farmer cooperatives can play an important role in bringing farmers together, improving access to knowledge and resources, and strengthening coordination with institutions working to advance agricultural development.
The engagement also highlights the importance of collaboration between local farming communities and government institutions. Through stronger partnerships and improved technical capacity, farmer cooperatives can become better positioned to respond to agricultural challenges and contribute to more sustainable and productive farming systems.
By investing in the knowledge and capacity of farmer cooperatives, KAALO and its partners are supporting communities to strengthen their agricultural livelihoods and contribute to improved food security.
Together, we are investing in stronger farmer cooperatives for a more food-secure, productive, and resilient future.
