The Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) has become a transformative centre for the protection and empowerment of women and girls. Aligned with the project outcomes of transforming dominant social norms and empowering women and adolescent girls, the WGSS has contributed to the protection of women and girls based on the approaches below.

(i) Advocacy Hub – The WGSS has established itself as an open centre for stakeholders and partners advocating for women and girls’ empowerment, fostering collaborative efforts in the community, for instance the safe space has become a centre where all organization working on Protection use as a basis of their assessments, many organizations use the centre to distribute essential kits that is specific.

(ii) Educational Enrolment – Girls who had never attended school have now enrolled in local schools after completing numeracy and literacy skills training at the WGSS, laying a foundation for their future, based on KAALO records 28 girls joined formal education after successfully completing the WAGSS session.

(iii) Empowerment Through Dialogue – The safe space Contributed to the ability of women and girls to discuss issues affecting them, enabling them to raise concerns with duty bearers and advocate for their rights.

(iv) Active Participation – Women and girls accessing the WGSS have begun to speak up and contribute to discussions, fostering a supportive community where their voices are heard.

(v) Support for GBV Survivors – The WGSS has provided essential support for GBV survivors, connecting them with medical, psychosocial, and livelihood assistance through effective referrals.

(vi) Livelihood Initiatives – In collaboration with GIZ, the livelihood and resilience department has implemented women empowerment activities in the safe space, benefiting many participants linked to the WGSS, this would not have been possible if these women and girls safe space funded by NCA was not in Place.

(vii) Diverse Empowerment Activities – Women and girls have engaged in various My safety my well-being, empowerment activities, such as henna Tie and Dye, VSLA and capacity-building programs on entrepreneurial skills, enhancing their economic independence with 330 directly benefiting.
