💧 Horogle Village Celebrates Access to Clean Water

The village of Horogle, located in the Galkacyo district, is celebrating a truly transformative event today: the grand opening of a new, life-sustaining borehole. This essential infrastructure project marks the end of a prolonged period of suffering and hardship caused by a critical lack of access to clean and safe drinking water.

For years, the community endured immense challenges, including long, taxing journeys to collect water from unreliable sources, which often led to the spread of waterborne diseases and hampered daily life, education, and economic activities. The provision of this reliable water source is therefore a monumental step toward improving public health, sanitation, and overall quality of life.

The borehole was expertly drilled and constructed as part of the Building Resilience in Communities in Somalia (BRCiS) project. The implementation was effectively carried out by KAALO, the dedicated local partner, demonstrating a strong collaboration between international efforts and local expertise.

In a key step toward ensuring its longevity, the Borehole was formally and proudly handed over to the Horogle community and the Puntland government. This handover guarantees local ownership and sustainable management, positioning the community to benefit from this vital resource for many years to come. This project is a powerful example of resilience building in action.
