KAALO in response to the severe drought that hit Somalia, has provided critical water trucking and fodder support to 370 vulnerable drought-affected households for 4 months, alongside with an unconditional-cash-transfer to 1,300 households for 3 months across “Ufeyn, Ballidoog, Carmo, Eldahir, Laaso-dawaco, Carta, and Barookhle.” These communities are severely affected by prolonged drought and face heightened risks of livestock loss and livelihood collapse.
This was under the SHF-funded drought response project and in collaboration with the Puntland Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MoHADM).
This timely intervention safeguards pastoral livelihoods by ensuring immediate access to water and animal feed, preventing further livestock deaths that are central to household survival.
